  DON'T SHOP HERE!!! If you want a local independent pet store, go to Tony's in Yucaipa. Daryl's has TERRIBLE customer service-- they are only concerned about money and NOT about the customer. I have been interested in the pet rats for the past couple of days but wouldn't be able to take them home until tomorrow. Of the four rats I initially saw, two were already sold, one of which was the one I really wanted to take home. Unfortunate, but totally fine. But I went in today to show my husband the other two and get a better idea of their behavior. I was told I could hold them only when I was ready to take them home..... so I couldn't test out their temperament before I made a commitment, I guess. I was assured though that the breeder was local and they hand raised their rats. Fine, whatever. I then asked for the name and number of the breeder, since there were only two rats here and neither of which I was too sure about taking home, and I know breeders tend to take more care in assuring you find the right rat for you. The guy (tall, glasses, blondish) literally LAUGHED and said no. I said "um okay" and he laughed again and said "Why would I do that?" Well first of all so I could look into this breeder you are *assuring* me is reputable, and secondly "So that I could ask him about younger rats and more options since you only have two hairless rats here." And he looked at me like I was stupid and said "How would that benefit us??" And I use raised my eyebrows and went "Wow, okay, whatever, let's go [husband]" and stopped to turn back and say "I really don't understand why you had to be rude about it" (perhaps something as simple as "no sorry we don't share that information" would have been fine) and he looked at me with confusion and so I was like "You didn't have to say 'why would i do that and how would that benefit us' and laugh at me" as I was walking out the door because I was LIVID, and then he had the nerve to say "I'm sorry that you don't understand." No, I understood clearly. I understood that you care more about money than customers, more about money than animals finding a home that suits them, and more about money than ensuring your customers are certain about an animal before they purchase it. And, I understood that you have no idea how to at least mask your greediness behind politeness.
